Effective: 2026-06-12
This Privacy Policy explains how Treeo collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the app. Treeo is a library loan management and reading progress tracking app designed to help users manually record public library loans, monitor due dates, track holds, and review reading activity. This policy applies to information processed through the app and related support communications. By using Treeo, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.
Treeo is designed to support personal organization for library borrowing activity. The app is not a library account integration service, not a social reading platform, and not an ebook reader or audiobook player. We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide app features, maintain stability, and respond to user requests.
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade user data. We do NOT share any user-uploaded or user-generated content with any third party. We do NOT use any third-party AI services to process user data. All AI processing is performed exclusively on our own internal servers.
If we use third-party providers for cloud storage, server hosting, or basic infrastructure operations, those providers act solely on our behalf and under our instructions. They are bound by contractual obligations to ensure data security and are NOT permitted to use user data for any purpose beyond what we instruct.
Such infrastructure providers do NOT use data for advertising or user profiling. They do NOT use data for AI training or model optimization. They do NOT use data for their own purposes or redistribute it. They do NOT independently access or use user content except as technically necessary to provide the contracted infrastructure service under our control.
We may disclose limited information if required by applicable law, lawful process, or to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of users, the app, or the public. Any such disclosure will be limited to what is legally required.
We use information to operate Treeo, including creating and managing loan records, tracking due dates, sending local reminders, maintaining hold queue information, storing reading progress, generating usage statistics, enabling export features, improving app reliability, and responding to support inquiries.
We do NOT use personal information or app content for advertising. We do NOT use personal information or app content for user profiling. We do NOT use personal information or app content for sale to data brokers or other third parties. We do NOT use user data for AI training, model training, or model optimization.
Where processing is required to provide app features, it is limited to the operational purpose of the feature requested by the user. Any temporary processing data is used only to complete that feature and is deleted after completion as described in this policy.
We retain information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law.
User-entered records, such as book titles, authors, due dates, statuses, notes, hold queue details, reading progress, and related app history, are stored until the user edits or deletes them. Generated results that appear in app history remain available until the user deletes them, and the user can delete them at any time within the app where such controls are provided.
Uploaded content, such as optional cover photos or other user-provided media, is deleted after processing if temporary server-side processing is required for a feature. Temporary processing data is deleted after completion of the requested processing task.
Crash logs and diagnostic records may be retained for up to 12 months to investigate bugs, prevent abuse, and improve app stability. Support messages and related support records may be retained for up to 6 months after the matter is resolved, unless a longer period is required for legal compliance or dispute handling.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it, subject to technical limitations, backup cycles, and legal obligations.
Treeo is not designed for facial recognition or biometric analysis. We do NOT collect, create, store, or share face templates, facial geometry, voiceprints, fingerprint data, or any other biometric identifiers or biometric information.
If a user uploads an image that incidentally contains a person, Treeo does not use that image for facial recognition, identity matching, biometric profiling, or biometric template creation. Any temporary image processing data, if used for a requested app function, is deleted after processing is complete.
Information you provide directly may include manually entered loan details, book metadata, type of material, due dates, hold positions, estimated availability dates, reading progress, status changes, notes, optional cover photos, export content, and any information you send in support requests.
Information collected automatically may include device type, operating system version, app version, language settings, coarse region information, crash reports, diagnostic data, and basic usage events needed to maintain performance and reliability. We collect this information to support security, bug fixing, and product functionality.
Treeo may use local device storage and similar technologies to save app settings, maintain app state, remember preferences, and support core functionality. If any web-based components are used, they may rely on basic cookies or similar technologies for session handling and technical operation. We do not use cookies or similar technologies for cross-site tracking, behavioral advertising, or profiling.
Treeo is intended for users age 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If we learn that a child under 17 has provided personal information in violation of this policy, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information as soon as practicable. If you believe such information has been provided, please contact us using the contact information listed below.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. These measures may include encrypted transmission where appropriate, access controls, least-privilege practices, secure infrastructure management, logging, and periodic review of operational safeguards.
No system can guarantee absolute security. Users should also protect their devices, operating system access, backups, and notification visibility. If we become aware of a security incident affecting personal information, we will respond in accordance with applicable law and our incident response procedures.
Depending on your location and the infrastructure used to operate Treeo, information may be processed or stored in countries or regions other than where you reside. These locations may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
When international transfers occur, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including contractual protections with service providers acting solely on our behalf and under our instructions. Regardless of processing location, the commitments in this Privacy Policy continue to apply.
All AI processing occurs on our own servers only. We do NOT use any third-party AI services to process user data. We do NOT send user-uploaded or user-generated content to third-party AI models, APIs, or platforms.
Any AI-related processing, if available in the app, is performed solely to deliver the feature requested by the user. Temporary processing data is deleted after processing is complete. We do NOT use user data, uploaded content, generated content, or support content for model training, AI training, model optimization, or any general-purpose machine learning development.
No AI processing is used for advertising, behavioral targeting, or user profiling. These commitments apply consistently throughout our services.
Subject to applicable law, users may have the right to access, correct, update, delete, or export certain personal information. Users may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent and to request restriction of certain processing activities.
In Treeo, many records can be edited or deleted directly within the app. Where available, export tools may allow users to download their borrowing history or related records. Users may also disable notifications through device settings and control certain app permissions through their device operating system.
To make a privacy request, ask a question, or withdraw consent for optional processing, users may use the contact information provided in this policy. We may need to verify a request before taking action, where permitted by law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, legal requirements, infrastructure, or privacy practices. When we make material changes, we may update the effective date, publish the revised policy within the app or on the relevant listing, and take additional steps if required by law.
Continued use of Treeo after the updated policy becomes effective means the updated policy will apply to future use of the app, to the extent permitted by law.
By downloading, accessing, or using Treeo, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the collection, use, storage, and disclosure practices described here. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the app.
